Bermuda's Tribute to Uncle Butch

By this time you’ve probably heard the news in Bermy. It doesn’t matter where you are or where you’re from - the news of the passing of the legend behind Art Mel’s Spicy Dicy has hit everyone’s heart. There’s this thing about Bermudians; you can tell how much you kind of know a person by what you call them- a sign of respect in some manner. Even though his name was Arthur Smith, those in the hood or close to him knew him as Uncle Butch. Even Art Mel’s was referred to as “Butcha’s.” Anyway before we began to ramble on, we’d just like to show our appreciation to a great man that took the time out of his day to simply ask how we were doing. Especially when everyone in Bermuda knows the orders in his small shop are ever flowing. It is amazing how something so small could make an everlasting memory! As we thought of you and your family, by blood and extended (the fish lovers), we wanted to just say thank you for everything and share a few words from your family across the globe….

and if you need a bit more you can read more stories from the community that loved him on this thread.
