Bermunchies: Bermuda Restaurant Week at Bacci

Categories // Bermunchies

By @Eliizzyv

What’s up fellow foodies? Its been a while since Ive blogged on the site. Been a bit hectic with the holidays and such, but we are back with another Bermunchies food review. This time we were invited to dine at Bacci, a Tuscan inspired restaurant that offers casual dining and affordable Italian dishes. The menu offers a plethora of delicious dishes ranging from artisanal pastas to classic Italian comfort foods, each prepared using the freshest seasonal ingredients. Not only is the food exquisite, but the location with ocean views overlooking the Fairmount Southamptons golf course amplifies your experience.

My guest and I were excited to sample Bacci’s menu as it would be our first time dining at the restaurant. We had heard many good reviews on the food, but wanted to have a taste ourselves. As I arrived I was impressed by the restaurants decor. It was warm and inviting and really made me feel as if I had stepped into an authentic Tuscan Villa. We were promptly greeted by our server for the night Sasha. She was a star! She was very hospitable and attentive throughout the entire night. My experience with her alone would take me back to Bacci over and over again! We got to meet our chef for the evening, Chef Sumeet who let us know that we were in for a treat and I was sure that we would not be disappointed.

I glanced at the menu and I literally wanted to taste a bit of everything, so it was hard to decide what to settle with. After a while I decided to start my meal with a bowl of Zuppa De Zucca- a local pumpkin soup with fresh mascarpone cheese, crispy pancetta bacon and garden sage and an order of crusty ciabatta bread with garlic & sicilian olive tapenade. ( I wish they would bottle this and sell it – AMAZING!) After sending in our order, we were greeted with an antipasti board full of cured meats, cheeses, figs and a divine chickpea spread infused with caramelized onions and garlic…… my mouth is watering all over again. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. It really set the tone for what was about to come.

I am a die hard lover of pumpkin soup and Bacci’s version did not disappoint. The smooth silky texture coupled with the crispiness of the smokey pancetta did wonders to my tastebuds.

The ciabatta bread was a perfect compliment to the soup with its crunchy garlic exterior topped with the salty and tangy olive tapenade. If you are a lover of olives their olive tapenade will make you do back flips- seriously.

For my main course I decided to go with one of their artisan pizzas. Now I know what you may be thinking- who goes to a fancy restaurant and orders a pizza right?

This wasn’t any ordinary pizza. I was completely sold buy the menus description- “PIZZA GAMBERI”, thin crusted pizza topped with basil pesto, goats’ cheese, mozzarella, prawns, tomato, spinach and roasted sweet peppers. Verdict- probably the best pizza my mouth has ever gotten to enjoy. It combined all of my favorite things; pesto, shrimp and goats cheese. The sweetness of the peppers and pesto was a good contrast with the tangy goats cheese and the freshness of the spinach gave it an edge. Even my guest had a bite and was sold. I give it 5 starts!

At this point I was in a semi food coma trying to make space for the best course of all- dessert. I chose the Mimosa cake- a confectionary concoction made up of diplomat cream, pistachio parfait, genoise fraganosa ganache and saffron gelato. Basically this dish was a slice of heaven on your plate. The cream was light and airy and was topped with the decadent ganache. I want to relive it again……

All in all my experience at Bacci was superior and I HIGHLY recommend it if you are a lover of Italian cuisine or fresh food. Book your reservation and let us know what you think! Visit their website at http://www.fairmont.com/southampton-bermuda/dining/bacci/.
